	Task Force for Women in Science
	The Scientific Advisory Council to the Prime Minister had recommended that a Task Force for Women in Science should be set up under the Ministry of Science & Technology. The Hon’ble Prime Minister had endorsed the idea. The main aim of this task force is to recommend measures so that the interests of women scientists and technologists are protected and they are encouraged to take up the scientific profession in the government and other organizations.
	Over the last two years this committee has been actively trying to get a feedback from women professionals in S&T and Engineering. We would be grateful to receive suggestions on measures you feel should be in place to promote and encourage women to take up S&T/E as a career option.

Retention

How do we motivate girls to take up S&T for a higher education?

How do we enthuse them to continue higher education in science at tertiary level too?

Recruitment

Equal employment opportunities – is it effective? If not, how can we make this more effective?

How can we increase the entry-level options for women? Is reservation an option? If not, what alternative suggestions do you have?

Research & Development
	Comment on the visibility of women in science and measures to enhance it.
2.	How can we enhance the performance/output of working women scientists – list three measures which you feel are priority?
3.	What kind of career advancement programmes is needed to help women scientists? List a few, which you feel, are currently in place and useful.
4.	What are the career advancement programnmes needed to help women scientists?

6.	What are the areas/skill women need mentoring in to enhance their effective participation in R& D and in the knowledge-based economy? How can we design these mentoring programmes?

What are the avenues available for women for reentry (like the one initiated by DST)? – What more do we need in place to benefit more number of women?

	Are women scientists being recognized adequately for their work?
